Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden welcomed their first child together

Congratulations are in order for Cameron Diaz and her musician husband Benji Madden. The couple announced via their Instagram accounts that they recently welcomed their first child at the ages of 47 and 40, respectively.

Garnering hundreds of thousands of likes in just a few hours after it was posted, the Instagram announcement was posted on both Diaz and Madden’s individual accounts and revealed that the couple named their baby girl Raddix Madden.

While perhaps not as offbeat as other celebrity children names like Apple (daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin) or Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee’s child with Beth Riesgraf), Raddix isn’t a common baby name and it has left many fans pondering the meaning behind the name.

Sadly, no photos or other details were shared aside from the fact that her parents think that she’s “really, really cute.”

“She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family. While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy. So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD:),” read the announcement, in part.

Diaz and Madden did not reveal whether Raddix entered their family via conventional birth, surrogacy or adoption. And given their preference for privacy, it doesn’t seem likely that we’ll find out.

Back in 2012, before meeting Madden, Diaz told Harper’s Bazaar UK that she didn’t know if or when she would have children.

“I’m not sitting there going ‘Oh my god, when am I going to get married? When am I going to have a baby?’ I would be remiss if I was living my life wishing I had something other than what I have. If one day, I am blessed with the experience of having a child, I would be overjoyed, but I am not sitting here feeling empty because I haven’t yet, or that I may not,” she said.

She and Madden, who is best known for being in the band Good Charlotte, have been married since 2015 after less than a year of dating. Here’s an image of the two from Madden’s Instagram account in which he gushes about his wife on her birthday.
