You Can Now Live Lavishly Underwater In These Floating ‘Seahorse’ Villas

The Heart of Europe

Sleeping with the fishes isn’t ordinarily something you’d want to try—until now.

A development company is launching partially submerged, three-story luxury floating villas off the coast of Dubai, and one can be yours for a cool $2.7 million.

Of all the places on earth, Dubai (the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates and home to such over-the-top creations as the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest freestanding structure) seems like exactly the right locale for these extravagant houseboats, which allow residents to view life under the sea from the comfort of their own master bedrooms.

The master bedroom and bathroom are both beneath the water, and offer some incredible views from bed or the glass-bottomed bathtub.

There are two stories above the water. The villa’s “sea level” offers a sundeck and additional living quarters.

The upper deck houses a hot tub and views of Dubai in the distance.

The first phase of Floating Seahorse homes is underway a couple miles from shore and is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. While the first set of homes is—amazingly—sold out, there are two other phases in the works with homes still available for purchase.

The project is part of The Heart of Europe, a chain of man-made islands off the coast of Dubai that will house luxury hotels, dining and entertainment.

The company that is developing the floating villas says it will stimulate reef life around the floating homes to support the natural underwater environment and also to ensure those who do choose to sleep with the fishes have some million dollar sea life to view.
