You can spend the night at the house from “A Christmas Story”

With Christmas comes a lot of family traditions: making cookies, gift exchanges, holiday music and, at least for my family, the re-watching of “A Christmas Story” multiple times throughout the season. I mean, it’s pretty hard not to indulge when it’s on TV for literally 24 hours straight each year—it’s totally not our fault!

Each time I watch, I dream about the Christmas memories my family could make if we spent the holiday in Ralphie’s childhood home. The broken furnace, the “fra-GEE-leh” leg lamp, hiding in the cupboard to avoid eating dinner. Now it looks like those dreams could soon become a reality.

The town where the movie is set is in Indiana, but the actual home is in Cleveland, Ohio. Tours have been going on in the home since 2006, but now you can officially spend the night right where the Parker family spent their Christmases.

Accommodating up to six guests a night, you’ll get to stay on the private third floor loft, but get use of the whole house from an hour after closing all the way until 9 a.m. the next day. Prices start at $495 a night, with an increase during the holiday season. If you’re planning an actual Christmas stay, it’ll cost you $1,995 for Christmas Eve and Christmas day or $995 per night until the New Year. But hey, you deserve a “major award” for being able to quote the classic movie word for word, right?

We do warn you though—most of the home has been redone and it doesn’t look exactly like it did in the film. The living room, however, looks pretty much just like it did in the movie, right down to the Red Ryder BB gun. Just don’t shoot your eye out!

If staying overnight isn’t your thing, there are a few other “A Christmas Story” related things to do in Cleveland, too. You can still tour the house, and the museum and gift shop are located right across the street.

If you’re visiting Cleveland at the beginning of December, you can even partake in a 5K/10K run. You’ll get free entrance to the house and museum if you run, so wear why not dress up like a leg lamp or don your best pink bunny suit? We triple-dog dare ya!
