Captain Morgan is releasing a limited-edition Gingerbread Spiced Rum

We’ve spent the past month saying goodbye to pumpkin spice in preparation for all things peppermint. But as delicious as peppermint is this time of year, there’s another flavor that’s often overlooked when it comes to seasonal desserts and drinks: gingerbread.

Sure, we make gingerbread houses, but we rarely eat them. And when was the last time you had a gingerbread-flavored cocktail? If the answer is “never,” Captain Morgan has a new beverage you may want to consider.

Just in time for the holidays, Captain Morgan is releasing Gingerbread Spiced Rum. You can find the flavorful rum in stores now through the end of the year in a 750ml bottle for around $14.99. The alcohol by volume is 30%, so be prepared to get very merry.

This rum is best served chilled as a shot or mixed into a cocktail, like this Captain’s Sleigh Ride Cider drink that mixes the rum with fresh cider. Just take 1.5 ounces of Captain Morgan Gingerbread Spiced Rum, stir in 6 ounces of fresh apple cider mixed in a mug and toss in a cinnamon stick or fresh apple as garnish.

If gingerbread flavors aren’t your favorite and you’re actually on that peppermint bandwagon, Smirnoff makes a Peppermint Twist vodka that’s sure to be useful in mixing some pretty festive cocktails! You can find the vodka in stores now for around $12.99. It has natural peppermint flavors and (not kidding!) scratch-and-sniff red and white packaging.

While you could, of course, drink it as a shot, Smirnoff also suggests making a cocktail by adding Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur, shaking it with ice and adding some grated nutmeg. You could even simply add it to peppermint hot chocolate for an extra festive pick-me-up.

You could also try something I did just last month and infuse your own vodka! I added apples and cinnamon to mine and it turned out wonderful and perfect for fall and winter cocktails.
