Houston Astros player proposed to girlfriend on live TV right after winning the World Series
Carlos Correa and girlfriend—scratch that—fiancé, Daniella Rodriguez, sure have a lot to celebrate. Not only did Correa’s team become World Series champions over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Nov. 1, but he also proposed to Rodriguez immediately after the game—and she said “yes!”
So, the couple now has a World Series win to celebrate as well as a brand new engagement. Such exciting times for these two!
Apparently, Correa had been planning this proposal for a while, but Rodriguez seemed to have no clue it was about to happen.
“I was planning if we were World Series champions, I was going to do it right there,” Correa told ESPN. “I don’t think that’s a stage you can create; it just has to happen. And we were able to win tonight, so perfect timing for me to get engaged.”
And thankfully for those of us who love a happy ending, the magical moment was caught on camera.
When asked by a reporter how it felt to win the World Series, Correa responded, “It’s everything and more. It’s one of the biggest steps, one of the biggest accomplishments of my life, and right now I’m about to take another big step in my life.”
He dropped to one knee and said, “Daniella Rodriguez, you make me the happiest man in the world. Will you marry me?”
Rodriguez was left speechless and only able to say, “Oh my god” initially. Finally, Correa is able to get her to officially say the word, “Yes!”
To hear Rodriguez tell it, she did not see the proposal coming until the moment Correa got down on one knee, so he certainly did a good job of keeping the secret, which makes the surprise even more perfect.
It was an absolutely beautiful moment, and even more spectacular—that ring.

This, of course, gave Astros fans even more to be excited about. Many took to Twitter writing things such as, “No, you’re crying.” Because it’d be hard to hold back your tears of joy with so much good news.

But some guys said that Correa set the bar quite high for memorable marriage proposals. (Good luck, gentlemen!)

Congratulations are certainly in order. It’s not everyday that you can win the World Series and become engaged. So, it seems Correa is one very lucky man.
