An actual cat walked the red carpet and the pictures are amazing
When Netflix announced they were rebooting “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” with a darker and more adult storyline, we could barely contain our excitement.
And now, with the full trailer for “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina” making the rounds — a show based on the comic book series of the same name — our excitement has only increased. Especially after we got to see Salem walking down the red carpet at the program’s world premiere.
Yes. A cat on the red carpet. Thank you for giving us this, 2018.
Look at him smizing for the camera! Take note, Gigi Hadid. This is how you work it on the red carpet.
At first, we were just moderately envious of Salem’s castmates, who get to spend all day on set with him (or should we call them “catmates”?). But then we learned that Salem is played by not ONE cat on “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” but FIVE cats. That’s right. So the actors on “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” get to cuddle with five fluffy felines on set, while the rest of us have to go to work with NO CATS.
Does that sound fair? We think not. Kiernan Shipka (Sabrina), Lucy Davis (Hilda), Miranda Otto (Zelda) and Jaz Sinclair (Rosalind) get to hang out with adorable actor-kitties Shaq, Boomer, Edward, Trevor, and Bobby (the five cats who take turns playing Salem on set).
“Shaq really does carry the load because he’s just tremendous; like a majority of the shots are [the cats] sitting on set and he tolerates all the stuff going on so easily there’s no point in trying to better it with a different cat,” says animal trainer Ian Doig.
But for running takes, the animal trainer explains, “Trevor’s our guy because he’ll literally run through flames. He’s kind of a nut.”
As cute and talented as these kitties are, not all the stars are on board with the Salem actors. It turns out that star Shipka is actually allergic to cats. It got so bad that she even broke out in hives the first month on set. Hmm. That’s not very witch-like!
Here’s hoping she has allergy medicine handy because we need lots of Salem scenes on “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” The series airs Oct. 26, and we can’t wait.
