Cher is officially joining the cast of the ‘Mamma Mia’ sequel

Next year marks the 10-year anniversary of “Mamma Mia! The Movie,” and you’re in luck because you’re going be to able to celebrate in the best way possible! A sequel to the movie is set to drop on July 20, 2018—just two days after the original film hit theaters 10 years ago. So, round up your friends and head to the movies to commemorate this milestone.

As if the news of a sequel wasn’t exciting enough, we’ve now learned that Cher will be part of the upcoming movie. The only way the “Mamma Mia” cast could be any greater is if Cher were in the mix, so we’re really in for a treat!

Cher tweeted the news from her personal account, simply writing, “Well … Im [sic] in Momma Mia 2.”

And that was all it took to cause a frenzy online.

People responded with extreme excitement via Twitter, writing comments such as, “CHER!!!!!! this is the BEST NEWS IVE [sic] HEARD!!!!!!!!”

In case you’re unfamiliar,”Mamma Mia: The Movie” is a musical that tells the story of a bride-to-be in search of her real father. Songs from the hit group ABBA drive the plot.

The sequel, “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again,” will feature the previous lineup of stellar actors and actresses, including Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Amanda Seyfried and Pierce Brosnan, along with newcomers Lily James— and, of course, Cher!

This isn’t the first time Cher and Streep have shared a screen (they acted together in the 1983 movie “Silkwood“), but this does mark Cher’s first on-screen appearance since 2010.

Cher admitted that the opportunity to be a part of something as epic as the “Mamma Mia” sequel is a dream come true:
