Chewbacca Mom Has Made A Staggering Sum Of Money From Viral Video

Whatever Candace Payne, aka “Chewbacca Mom” was thinking would be the outcome of posting a selfie video of herself test-driving a talking Chewbacca mask she’d just purchased at Kohl’s, we’re pretty sure she wasn’t thinking it would lead to nearly a half-a-million dollars in gifts.

Alas, Payne’s Facebook Live video now has 150 million views, she’s been flown around the country for TV appearances, received a trip to Disney World–oh, and did we mention a university in Florida granted Payne, her husband and their two children free tuition?

Money totaled the dollar amount of all the gifts that Payne has received since that fateful day in May. Add up the college scholarships, gifts from Kohl’s (the retailer quickly sold out of Chewbacca masks), Disney World vacation, Hasbro gift card, VIP treatment at Fan Expo Dallas, and travel expenses for talk shows. The grand total? $420,000.

If you haven’t watched it yet, check out Payne’s joyful video below:
