Chip and Joanna Gaines Are Coming Back To TV

Brace yourselves for this exciting news: Chip and Joanna Gaines are coming back to television!

The “Fixer Upper” duo announced on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Friday that they are getting their own television network. The big news came while Joanna was on the show to promote her new design book, Homebody: A Guide to Creating Places You Never Want to Leave.

“We signed a non-disclosure and it said, quote-unquote, ‘You can tell your mother but that’s it,'” Chip said when Fallon asked if the Gaines family would ever return to television. “So, Mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement: We are coming back to television. You are going to get to see the kids grow up, you are going to see us — well, maybe a six-month delay like the rest of the world — but we are excited to be back.”

Joanna teased Chip on Instagram about his early reveal that they were getting their own network, writing, “Ummm @chipgaines may or may not have gotten a little ahead of himself and let the cat out of the bag about something big.”

Specifics about the network’s programming are still unclear, with Magnolia spokesman John Marsicano explaining in a statement to People, “The details surrounding this opportunity remain a work in progress, but together, our hope is to build a different kind of platform for unique, inspiring and family-friendly content.”

The Gaines announced in September 2017 that “Fixer Upper” would end after five seasons (the series finale aired Apr. 3, 2018, on HGTV). At the time, the couple said they were looking to slow down and pour their energy into their family and other businesses, which include Hearth and Hand, a line of home goods sold at Target. Joanna wrote on Instagram that they had been “overwhelmed by the amazing response” when the line launched last November.

This new endeavor is in partnership with Discovery Inc., making it another addition to Chip and Joanna’s very long list of businesses and projects. In addition to the Target line and Joanna’s new book, the two have also successfully launched the Magnolia Table restaurant, a lifestyle magazine called The Magnolia Journal and the Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas.

Needless to say, they’ve been busy despite taking a break from television.
