The Gaines family has officially expanded! Chip and Joanna Gaines welcomed their fifth child, a baby boy, on June 23.
The proud papa couldn’t wait to share the news of his son’s arrival and Tweeted the news to fans, writing:
“And then there were 5.. The Gaines crew is now 1 stronger! 10 beautiful toes and 10 beautiful fingers all accounted for, and big momma is doing great!”

Little did we know at the time that him writing “The Gaines crew” could have also been a hint at the baby’s name. But, as per usual — Joanna swooped in to make sense of her husband’s banter.
She announced their son’s name on Instagram:
“Our baby boy, Crew Gaines, is here and we couldn’t be more in love,” she wrote.

She also noted that the baby boy decided to come a couple of weeks early — which was a fitting surprise for the family.
“He made an unexpected (and speedy) entrance into the world two and a half weeks early – which is fitting given he was a sweet surprise from day one,” the excited mom wrote.
The Gaineses were already the proud parents to four beautiful children, Drake, 13, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 8. No one was more excited to meet their baby brother than the older Gaines kids.
After posting about their latest addition, Joanna also shared a sweet photo of Crew’s brothers and sisters anxiously awaiting his arrival:

“One of my favorite pics a friend showed me after Crew was born. They couldn’t wait to meet their new baby brother,” she wrote.
Adding a fifth child to the mix will surely switch up the family dynamic a bit, but they couldn’t seem more up for it — especially in this sweet photo.
Chip has even Tweeted about seven being the “perfect number”:
“We are officially pregnant. And I could not be more EXCITED!,” the dad wrote on Twitter, adding “#5” and “#7ThePerfectNumber.”

And while whole “baby makes seven” concept may have been somewhat of a surprise to the family, we have a feeling they’re going to love having this little guy around — especially considering baby Crew is already such a sweetheart!
