Chipotle Is Adding A Dessert Option To Its Menu

After you order guac—which you know costs extra—you’re going to have to add one final item to your order. Dessert.

That’s right. Chipotle is adding dessert to its menu. So if you thought you couldn’t love this burrit0-making establishment any more, you were mistaken. Because things just got a whole lot sweeter.

According to Business Insider, one of the new desserts will be buñuelos. If you’re not familiar, it consists of fried tortillas topped with honey, sugar and cinnamon. It’s also served with apple caramel dipping sauce. Check out this photo of a stack of buñuelos. Can you say, “Yum?”

Spokesman Chris Arnold told the publication that Chipotle will start testing the new menu item in May.

The chain isn’t known for mixing up its menu too much, because: why change a good thing? This marks only the third addition since 2014. And each update has been better than the last. The first thing added to the menu were tofu sofritas, and next came the ability to add chorizo to your burrito, salad or burrito bowl.

But, dessert? It just doesn’t get any better than this. Let me just say, if Chipotle’s testing dessert recipes out, I’ll gladly be a guinea pig. Count me as the official Chipotle Food Tester. Sounds like a pretty good gig to me!

According to Refinery 29, the chain first announced that it would be testing desserts last year. They mentioned they would be testing two desserts, but the buñuelos are the only ones to be officially announced since then.

Churros wouldn’t be a bad second option, just in case anyone at Chipotle cares about my opinion.

It’s definitely nerve-racking to not know all of the details just yet, but one dessert option is better than none. So, who else is ready for this sweet treat to come to their local Chipotle location?

If you need me, I’ll be filling up on buñuelos until the second treat gets announced!
