“This Is Us” star Chrissy Metz wowed the crowd at the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 7 with her live performance of “I’m Standing With You” from the upcoming movie “Breakthrough.”

After she sang part of the emotional song solo, country music singers Carrie Underwood, Maddie & Tae, Lauren Alaina and Mickey Guyton joined Metz on stage to finish it off.

Metz is a country music fan and shared how excited she was to perform at the ACMs in a red carpet interview with People before the show.

“I mean, you know, as a little girl, you always dream about something like this,” Metz told People. “But to actually do it and to hold a stage with these incredible women … Are you kidding? It’s really exciting.”

Metz has the vocal chops to match her acting skills, as fans of the NBC drama “This Is Us” know. Her character, Kate Pearson, decides to pursue a singing career on the series.

While Metz has performed in several episodes of the show and elsewhere, this was her first live television performance. At the ACM Awards, she wore a stunning, dark blue, off-the-shoulder ballgown for the number and looked confident among the professional singers who joined her on stage.

“I’m Standing With You” was written by well-known songwriter-singer Diane Warren and is about supporting someone through challenging times. Here’s the recorded audio version:

The song fits well as an emotional highlight to Metz’s upcoming faith-based movie, “Breakthrough.” She plays a mother, Joyce Smith, who won’t give up on her teenage son after he falls through a frozen pond, remains underwater for 15 minutes and seems clinically dead for 45 minutes. The film is based on a true story and marks Metz’s movie debut.

“Music was my first love and I was really just sort of afraid of my own shadow,” Metz told the Associated Press of her love for singing.

But she seems to have overcome her fear in time for her star-studded appearance — and we’re all grateful. Her on-stage collaborators seemed just as excited to sing with her as she was with them.

“This is her debut TV singing moment, and I’m just honored to be a part of it,” Underwood told the AP.

Her fellow singer Guyton also gushed about Metz, telling the AP that Metz is as genuine as the character of Kate on “This Is Us.”

“She is so kind and loving and exactly that person that you see on TV,” Guyton said. “She’s that but like even that much better.”

Metz opened up about the experience on Instagram. “Singing this song with such wonderful women, artists and this amazing choir was truly a gift wrapped in the most special of bows!” she wrote alongside an image of the group singing.

Underwood, Maddie & Tae, Lauren Alaina and Mickey Guyton also have songs on the “Breakthrough” soundtrack, which makes the on-stage collaboration a no-brainer that’s perfectly suited to generate excitement about the film. Walt Disney Studio’s “Breakthrough” is due in theaters on April 17.
