Chrissy Teigen is known for her hilarious social media presence, but she also has no problem shutting down trolls if she has to. Case in point: Teigen posted a photo of her dinner that had fallen on the floor and later noted that she ate it anyways. This tweet earned a not-so-kind response from one user, who wrote, “All you do is eat, sleep, s*** and spend other people’s money. My perfect partner.”

True to form, Teigen was not going to let him get away with such an insult — the “spend other people’s money” part — especially considering it’s not true.

Teigen immediately tweeted two simple words — “my money” — accompanied by a photo from a “Forbes” article showing she was amongst the world’s highest-paid models in 2017. She raked in $13.5 million last year.

According to Forbes, Teigen was the third highest-paid model of 2017, following Kendall Jenner and Ashley Graham.

While there is no doubt that Teigen’s husband, musician John Legend, is hugely successful in his own right, she made it clear that her success is her own.

What’s more, it seems like Teigen doesn’t spend her hard-earned cash frivolously. After all, she had no problem eating food that had fallen on the floor. And last month, Teigen put her money where her mouth is when she offered to pay a possible $100,000 penalty which would have been put on gymnast McKayla Maroney for violating a nondisclosure agreement with USA Gymnastics if she chose to speak at the sentencing for team doctor Larry Nassar.

Although Maroney was not fined, Teigen made it clear that she was willing to offer financial support for a cause she believes in, writing: “The entire principle of this should be fought – an NDA to stay quiet about this serial monster with over 140 accusers, but I would be absolutely honored to pay this for you, McKayla.”

Nasser was convicted of decades of sexual abuse, for which he was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison — all because survivors of his abuse like Maroney spoke out about him.

Kudos to Teigen for her empowering message and standing up for herself as well as for what she believes in!
