Christmas Magic Cookie Bars are red, green and delicious

Passion for Savings

Every year leading up to Christmas, I have visions of elaborate cakes and perfectly iced cookies I’ll spend all Christmas Eve making. And every year, I instead find myself scouring the internet for “easy Christmas desserts.”

If you’re also better at imagining desserts than creating them, but still want something delicious that looks like you put more work into than you actually did, I’ve found an amazing recipe you’ll definitely want to try this holiday. These Christmas Magic Cookie Bars from Passion for Savings have everything you’d want in a holiday dessert — chocolate, butterscotch, graham crackers… plus, of course, Christmas colors!

Altogether, there are only seven ingredients, some of which you likely already have on hand like butter, chocolate chips and quick oats. You’ll also need sweetened condensed milk, butterscotch chips and holiday M&M’s, which is what will give the dessert its festive color.

The recipe itself is super easy. Essentially, you just combine melted butter and graham cracker crumbs, then press them into the bottom of the pan. From there, pour the sweetened condensed milk on top of the graham cracker layer, then start layering in the other ingredients, starting with the oats. Of course, save the M&M’s for the last layer so the color is on top. Then just pop it in the oven and you’re good to go!

If you’d like to make a similar dessert, but with a few different flavors, this seven-layer bars recipe from Brown Eyed Baker uses pecans, white chocolate chips and coconut. It looks just as easy to make and, despite not having red and green colors, would still look gorgeous on a dessert table!

You could also go for even more colors and opt for these monster cookie magic bars from Together as Family instead. These ones call for multiple colors of M&M’s and peanut butter chips instead of butterscotch, but the rest of the ingredients are the same as the Christmas magic bars.

Of course, you could also just go crazy with the cookie and candy combination and create this beautiful candy cookie cake that uses multiple treats like M&M’s and chopped up candy bars. While it would be perfect after Halloween when the mini candy is in abundance, I’m pretty sure no one will turn it down as a Christmas dessert either.

Will you be making some holiday magic bars this Christmas?
