Country stars pay tribute to Daryle Singletary after his passing

Country singer Daryle Singletary passed away suddenly on Monday at the age of 46 years old. The cause of Singletary’s death is still unknown. The singer was not known to be ill, and he even performed concerts as recently as this past weekend. The country crooner, known for his chart-topping hit “Too Much Fun,” leaves behind four children and his wife Holly.

The sudden and tragic loss has rocked the country music world. Stars such as Travis Tritt, Charlie Daniels, Lee Brice and Josh Daniels took to their social media accounts to express their sorrow at the loss of Singletary, and to mention how influential he was to the world of modern country music:

In the 1990s, Singletary had impressive commercial success, earning himself five “Top 40” hits on the Hot Country charts. He is best known for his hits “I Let Her Lie,” “Too Much Fun” and “Amen Kind of Love.”

Singletary first fell in love with music as a young boy living in Georgia. The son of a postal worker and a hairdresser, the southern boy loved to sing gospel with his brother and his cousins. He never forgot his humble roots and his love of traditional country.

In fact, on his very last performance, Singletary closed out his show with a classic country tune from Johnny Paycheck’s “Old Violin.” The song was captured on video, and it’s impressive not only because of Singletary’s talent, but because the lyrics feel a bit prophetic:

And just like that, it hit me,
that old violin and I were just alike,
we’d give our all to music,
and soon we’d give our life.

Singletary certainly did give his all to music. We’re lucky, though, in that even though he’s now gone, his family and his fans can still enjoy his voice forever.
