For years, we’ve been used to seeing glamorous CoverGirls representing the iconic makeup brand. Now, for the first time ever, we have a “CoverBoy”— and his makeup is fab.
CoverGirl just announced that social media star James Charles is the first-ever male CoverGirl, according to People Style. The news was revealed this week via pop star Katy Perry’s Instagram account.
Charles, who is just 17 and has only been doing makeup for a year, will appear in campaigns for CoverGirl’s newest mascara, “So Lashy.” The new product is meant to work on all lash types, which makes Charles the perfect fit to represent it. CoverGirl also said the following in their press release:
“All of our CoverGirls are role models and boundary-breakers, fearlessly expressing themselves, standing up for what they believe, and redefining what it means to be beautiful. James Charles is no exception. One year ago, he boldly chose to launch his Instagram to the world, using transformative, dynamic makeup looks to showcase the many facets of his personality, serving as an inspiration to anyone who might have been afraid to do the same.”
Charles currently has over 600,000 followers on his Instagram account, where he posts his various makeup looks, and they’re quite impressive! Charles also has a YouTube channel where he features makeup tutorials.
