This portable high chair might be one of the best inventions of all time

Every parent knows what a pain it can be to track down a high chair at some restaurants or balance your squirmy toddler on your lap while eating at the home of a friend or relative. If only you could have a high-chair small enough to carry with you, right?

Well, check out the Easy Seat from Cozy Cover, which promises to be the most versatile high chair you’ll ever own. It folds up small enough to fit in your purse, and you can throw it in the washing machine after a messy meal.

Calling the Easy Seat a “high chair” might be a little misleading because it’s more of a harness that sits at the height of a normal chair—but it claims to give toddlers the same stability as a high chair. It slips over the back of most dining-room chairs and locks into place with a five-point harness and plastic buckles.

Check out the video below to see how simple it is to set up this clever contraption:

According to Cozy Cover’s website, the Easy Seat is made for babies who are at least 6 months old and weigh no more than 35 pounds. Some customer reviews on Amazon said it works for any baby who can hold his or her own head up.

The Easy Seat has been around since at least 2014, the date of the earliest online product review we could find, but it hasn’t been officially approved by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association and there are no references to it on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.

Many Amazon reviews praised the stability of the Easy Seat, but some parents warn to make sure the chair is far enough from the table so that your baby doesn’t hit his or her head if they sneeze or rock forward.

The Cozy Cover Easy Seat sells on Amazon for $19.99 and is eligible for free shipping for Prime members. It currently holds a 4.5-star rating from more than 240 customers. You can also buy it at Wal-Mart and directly from Cozy Cover’s website.

The Easy Seat isn’t the only portable high chair on the market. The similar Totseat harness is available for $24.95 on Amazon and has even more customer reviews. The Tie Chair, which also works for older kids, sells for $49.95 online.
