Dairy Queen Is Serving Mint Oreo Blizzards All Month Long

DairyQueen/Twitter

Your favorite Dairy Queen dessert is back just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Dairy Queen announced its Blizzard of the Month for March, and it’s a festive green color and packed full of flavor. Ice cream fans, get ready to enjoy the Mint Oreo Blizzard all throughout the month of March, because this combo of chocolate and minty flavor is part of what makes St. Patrick’s Day celebrations so great.

The Mint Oreo Blizzard is just as good as you’d imagine. It’s got a mint-flavored ice cream base that’s dyed a light green color to be extra festive for St. Patty’s Day, and it’s chock full of Oreo cookie pieces that offer chocolate and creme flavor and just the right amount of crunch.

Dairy Queen fans may remember this Blizzard flavor. One, because something this good would be hard to forget, and two, because the ice cream establishment carried this on its regular menu until it was discontinued back in 2015, according to Spoon University.

The news of the monthly flavor came via Dairy Queen’s social media. The official Dairy Queen Twitter account shared the special announcement, saying, “No other mint treat compares to the Mint @Oreo BLIZZARD of the Month. Get your own and taste the truth for yourself.”:

And fans rejoiced!

One mint and chocolate lover, Twitter user @AMAD18 wrote this was “the best news of the day” in response:

And Twitter user @Raydiance4U asked if Dairy Queen could “bring [the flavor] back for good” due to a major “pregnancy craving” for the mint and chocolate combination:

Those who have already gotten their hands on it can’t deny how delicious it is. Twitter user @lissaannblue wrote, “I’m in heaven” after trying the flavor:

Dairy Queen will have this on-hand at participating locations all throughout the month of March. But clearly, the love of this Oreo and mint dessert runs deep. So, if you’d like to be able to enjoy this long after March has ended, you might want to try combining Oreo and mint at home.

This recipe for no-churn mint Oreo ice cream from Together As A Family may not be a Blizzard from Dairy Queen, but it’s sure to taste amazing. It calls for mint extract but also uses mint-flavored Oreos for even more minty flavor. Combine that with heavy whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk and green food coloring, and you’ve got one festive homemade treat on your hands:

Who’s ready to enjoy this treat throughout March and beyond?!
