David Beckham’s son surprised him for his birthday, and his reaction was so sweet

Soccer icon David Beckham turned 43 years old on May 2, and while birthdays are always special — he had a surprise in store that definitely blew him away.

David, who lives in England, is the father of four children, and his oldest son, Brooklyn, is away attending college in New York. So, as he was celebrating his birthday, the elder Beckham wasn’t planning on seeing his son for the festivities. Little did he know, Brooklyn had flown in just to surprise him.

Thankfully, Brooklyn’s mom, Victoria Beckham, caught the moment the father and son were reunited on video and it couldn’t have been sweeter. Check out her Instagram video of the birthday surprise below.

You can tell David was genuinely surprised and it’s so sweet how tightly he holds Brooklyn upon seeing him.

“What are you doing here?” David can be heard asking in the clip, which has already been liked more than 1.6 million times in just a few days.

“Happy birthday. I just landed,” Brooklyn says. “I missed you so much.”

These two clearly have a close relationship. Here’s a throwback photo of them hanging out together at an NBA game in 2012:

Even Brooklyn’s younger sister, Harper, chimed in, “I didn’t know Brooklyn was coming.”

But luckily for us, Victoria did seem to be in on it or this moment might not have been caught on camera. And it was truly too sweet to miss out on.

She also snapped a sweet photo of David with the couple’s three younger children, Harper, Romeo and Cruz, with the birthday message, “We all love u so much!!!”

We’re wishing a very happy birthday to David Beckham!

A few weeks before his own birthday, David posted a sweet birthday message for his wife on Instagram. “Happy Birthday to thing young lady,” he captioned the photo. “Amazing mummy.”

Last year, it was Victoria who was getting emotional about Brooklyn. As she was preparing to send her son off to college, the famous mom shared this sweet photo on Instagram.

“We are all so proud of you Brooklyn. Amazing A level results and off to college,” she captioned the photo. “We love you so much and will miss you.”

In case it wasn’t obvious from the photo, she also added the hashtags #yesiamcrying and #emotional.

And the love definitely goes both ways between mother and son. For Mother’s Day, Brooklyn posted this photo wishing his mom a good day. “Happy Mother’s Day,” the caption reads. “Love you very much.”
