Just Days Before Eva Longoria’s Due Date, Her Beloved Dog Passed Away

"He was my baby before this baby in my belly came along."

On Friday, June 15, just days before her expected due date, Eva Longoria shared that her beloved 15-year-old dog, Jinxy, had passed away the night before following a stroke. The “Overboard” actress shared the heart-wrenching news on Instagram, writing, “The day I’ve been dreading happened last night. Jinxy passed away in my arms at the vet.”

Longoria, 43, is currently expecting her first child with husband Jose Antonio Baston, whom she married in 2016. In her Instagram post, Longoria wrote that Jinxy was “my baby before this baby in my belly came along.” She then added, “Anyone who knew me, knew Jinxy.”

She included a picture of Jinxy in her arms at the vet, along with several throwback pictures of their time together:

The “Desperate Housewives” star’s Instagram reel is full of pictures of Jinxy, documenting the many years they spent together — and Jinxy was frequently featured in photo shoots and interview videos, as well.

“I’m so sad but know that he’s out of his suffering,” Longoria wrote about Jinxy in her Instagram post. The news seems especially hard to hear during an otherwise happy time for her family.

Longoria, who has been open about how thrilled she is to be expecting her first child, seemed excited to see her fur babies interact with the new baby. In May, Longoria shared a picture of Jinxy lying on her baby bump, writing, “Big brother on baby bump watch! Thx Jinxy Baby!”

She also shared a heartwarming picture of herself — while pregnant — with Jinxy at the beach. “Sunday Funday in Malibu with both my babies!” she wrote. Take a look at the adorable post below:

Longoria still has one pet dog at home waiting to meet her baby: Jinxy’s younger sibling, a French bulldog named Popeye who joined Longoria’s family in 2015.
