By now, we’ve all heard of Minions—and the “Despicable Me” franchise from which they stemmed. But should we be saying DespicableSexism instead? Perhaps in jest. Recently, the creator of the franchise, Pierre Coffin, told TheWrap:
“Seeing how dumb and stupid they often are, I just couldn’t imagine Minions being girls.”
If you’re not familiar with the Minions and their shenanigans, Gru, the villain, is at the core, as well as his bright yellow Minions. There are also three orphans (Edith, Agnes and Margo). Though the Minions sometimes dress as girls, they are not voiced by females; however, there are other female voices in the movies, like Allison Janney and Sandra Bullock.

Three feature films have come out (so far) around the computer-animated “Despicable Me” franchise, not to mention the endless merchandise. In fact, I see it everywhere I go, and others do, too—including a 40-foot inflatable Minion falling into the road in Dublin, Ireland and causing a traffic jam! A car did lose a side mirror, reported TheJournal.ie.
