Here Are The Details Of The Music Festival The Obama’s Are Hosting At The White House

President and Michelle Obama can add one more title to their power couple resume: music festival planners. After delivering speeches on civic engagement to a group of entrepreneurs at South by Southwest (SXSW), the Obamas are planning a similar music festival at the White House.

The one-day event, called South by South Lawn, is scheduled to take place on the South Lawn of the White House on Oct. 3. It will be a day full of films, interactive technology and, of course, music.

South by South Lawn will include three parts, according to a White House press release:

Interactive

Throughout the day there will be panel discussions with innovators who are making a positive difference. Attendees can enjoy interactive booths full of new technological ideas.

Film

The White House is partnering with the American Film Institute and the President’s Committee on Arts and Humanities to bring a film segment to the festival. Along with those partnerships, the film portion is featuring the 3rd Annual White House Student Film Festival. Students in grades K-12 from around the nation submitted short films around a theme (this year’s was “The World I Want to Live In”). Official selections will be shown throughout the day to honor the young filmmakers.

Music

Last but not least is the music portion. Though no word on who will take the stage has been released, the Obamas promise performances from both well known and up-and-coming artists who use music to inspire others.

Without a doubt, the musical acts will be nothing short of amazing, especially since SXSW is a partner in the festival—and those folks how to put on a killer show.

To hold you over until Oct. 3, listen to FLOTUS’ International Day of Girls playlist and President Obama’s newest one from the summer. If these playlists are a hint of what’s to come, we’re psyched about South by South Lawn!
