DiGiorno is debuting a new pizza with crust made of croissant

If you thought the return of Pizza Hut’s 2-foot-long big dipper pizza was going to be the best pizza news this year — just wait.

DiGiorno is introducing a brand new pizza unlike anything else you’ll find at a national pizza chain or in the frozen food section of your grocery store: Croissant Crust pizza.

A mash-up of pizza and croissant dough, the new croissant crust pizza comes in a “squaround” shape and features multiple layers of light, flaky and buttery crust and your favorite pizza toppings.

The new frozen pizzas are made with 100% real cheese and come in three flavors: Four Cheese, Pepperoni and Three Meat (sausage, pepperoni and beef).

According to a DiGiorno spokesperson, all three varieties will be available at Target nationwide starting in May 2020 and will eventually come to other retailers. Depending on where you live, they have a suggested retail price of $6.49-$7.49.

If you want to try your hand at making your own croissant pizza at home, check out this recipe from The Hungry Bites. All you need is a container of croissant dough, tomato sauce, cheese and whatever toppings you prefer.

Because croissants are typically a breakfast food, you could also try using pre-made croissant dough as the base of a breakfast pizza and add cheese, eggs, and toppings like sausage or ham. Some nutritionists actually say pizza is a healthier breakfast choice than some sugary cereals, so using croissants instead could really up your breakfast game!

The DiGiorno croissant crust pizzas are just the latest in new offerings from the brand, which included a BBQ bacon cheeseburger pizza last May and buffalo chicken pizza with ranch earlier this year.

Not only is the pizza sauce on the buffalo chicken pizza ranch dressing instead of traditional tomato sauce, but the crust is stuffed with ranch-seasoned cheese to create a mash-up of pizza, buffalo chicken wings and ranch all in one.
