Disney announces release dates for upcoming films — plus even more new movies in production

Walt Disney Studios

Get ready for some Disney magic: Walt Disney Studios has announced the release dates of a bunch of movies set to hit theaters in the next few years.

While we already knew some were on the way, this announcement revealed some new titles — like a new live-action “Aladdin” that will hit theaters on May 24, 2019!

There were also changes to release dates, including “Star Wars: Episode IX”, which was set to be released on May 24, 2019. It has now been pushed back to Dec. 20, 2019. The news follows another announcement that J. J. Abrams will now be directing the film, which is the reason for the date change.

If you were looking forward to “Magic Camp,” we have some bad news. The film, which was set for an April 6, 2018 release, is now missing from the calendar completely. That could either mean the date has been changed or the film will be scrapped altogether. We don’t know, but it would probably be best not to get your hopes up.

Release dates were also revealed for an untitled “Christopher Robbin Project,” “Artemis Fowl,” and “Nicole,” which was previously called the “Untitled Disney Fairy Tale.”

“Nicole” stars Anna Kendrick as Santa Claus’ daughter, who has to take over the family business after her dad (Santa!) retires. Funny man Bill Hader will play her brother. That one is set for a Nov. 8, 2019 release, just in time for the holidays!

A new trailer for “Coco” was also released. The animated film is about an aspiring musician, who embarks on a very special journey to learn the true story behind his family’s history. That will hit theaters on Nov. 23, 2017.

And that’s not all, mouse fans. Here’s a list of all the movies Disney will release before 2020:
