Disney Cruise Line has a trip that ‘Goonies’ fans will love
Disney Cruise Line is known for bringing its own touch of Hollywood magic to the high seas.
With themed restaurants, an entire “Beauty and the Beast” European voyage and even “Star Wars”-related events and sailings, Disney knows how to bring the best of the big screen to its guests.
And coming this fall, Disney Cruise Line is introducing a new experience that fans of the classic film “The Goonies” will be sure to love.
On Sept. 11, the Disney Wonder cruise ship will make a stop in Astoria, Oregon, as part of its four-night California coastline cruise from Vancouver, Canada, to San Diego, California.
As part of the Filmed in Astoria shore excursion, travelers will visit locations around town that were featured in “The Goonies.”
Stops during the excursion include:
The Flavel House
A visit to downtown Astoria’s Flavel House. This historic home was the location used as a museum where Mikey’s father worked as a curator.
The Clatsop County Jail
The Clatsop County Jail can be seen in the beginning of “The Goonies” as Mama Fratelli breaks her son Jake out of jail.
In addition to being a location for “The Goonies,” this jail was also featured in “Short Circuit” and “Come See The Paradise.”
According to the Disney Cruise Line website, other locations used in both “The Goonies” and other films will also be included on the tour.
And in addition to the Hollywood-themed scenery, the cruise itinerary also offers adventures to other iconic Pacific Northwest sites, including Mount St. Helens National Monument, the Astoria Column, the Maritime Museum and the Lewis and Clark Historical Park.
Beyond the shore excursions, guests on the Disney Wonder can enjoy its 11 decks, which offer live shows, eight restaurants, a spa and much more.
Bookings for this new, four-night cruise are filling up fast. At last check, an ocean view stateroom starts at just over $2,600. As of right now, the only sailing of this particular itinerary is scheduled for Sept. 10, so you might want to book your reservation now if you’re looking to experience that Hollywood magic at sea.
