Disney Opens A Dress Shop Filled With Character-Inspired Designs

Would you say you’re a Minnie or a Snow White? Or is your Disney obsession centered around “It’s a Small World” or Dumbo?

You can pay homage to your favorite parts of Disney by snatching up an outfit from the new Dress Shop on Cherry Tree Lane at Disney World in Florida. The shop opened at the end of March in the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs.

They don’t sell your typical princess costumes; rather, elements of favorite Disney characters and memories come to life in prints and through the design of dresses and accessories. (It’s a good thing, too, because no one 14 and older is allowed to wear a costume inside Disney theme parks.)

“We designed The Dress Shop collection for guests who want to emulate their favorite Disney characters or theme park attractions in a fun, retro way,” merchandiser Donna Sorrow told the Disney Parks Blog. Sorrow described the dresses as classic in design but with modern fits, so they work well for a day at a Disney park.

Some of the famous Disney World attractions subtly featured in the dresses include The Haunted Mansion, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and “It’s a Small World.” You can don a teacup-print dress (and grab a pocket watch) to show your Mad Tea Party spirit, or consider an apple print dress if you’re a big Snow White fan.

Disney even confirmed to a commenter that, yes, some of the dresses do have pockets.

And, what sounds better than enjoying a Dole Whip or Mickey ice cream in a Pocahontas-inspired dress?

We hear some styles have already started selling out, so hurry up and start shopping! According to POPSUGAR, the dresses are retailing for between $100 and $160.

Not planning a trip to Florida anytime soon? Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District also started offering some of the dresses at Vault 28. There are no online sales yet, but that may happen in the future.
