Disney World announces new date-based ticket pricing
Walt Disney World Resort announced on Monday that it’s making big changes to how customers book and plan their Disney experiences at the Orlando theme park. Beginning Oct. 16 on DisneyWorld.com, guests will be able to access a new online system allowing them to select tickets priced by the dates of their visit.
“At Walt Disney World Resort, we are constantly looking for new ways to deliver the best experience possible for our guests,” Disney Parks editorial content director Thomas Smith wrote on the Disney Parks blog.
“These changes are designed to simplify the booking experience, give guests an enhanced way to purchase theme park tickets and help them more easily plan the Disney vacation of their dreams,” he continued.

Curious about how it works? Smith noted that when you are ready to purchase tickets online, you will use Disney’s interactive online calendar that will display prices based on the dates you are looking to visit the park.
You’ll also be able to see the lowest-priced days available within a particular month.
There’s one rule: You must use your tickets during a specific time period. So, for example, if you purchase a three-day pass, you have a five-day window within which you can use it. For a four-day ticket, you have six days, and so forth.
Currently, customers can buy multi-day tickets and don’t have use them on exact dates, but they do have to use them on consecutive days within a specific 14-day period.
Once you purchase your tickets, you can plan the rest of your trip using the My Disney Experience feature on the site. You can also manage your vacation through the My Disney Experience mobile app, where you can also purchase tickets while on the go.

“As our parks have increased in popularity, there are more and more guests who wish to experience our world-class attractions,” Smith wrote. “Introducing date-based tickets and pricing will allow us to better distribute attendance throughout the year so that we can continue to improve and deliver a great experience.”
While exact ticket prices won’t be known until the new system is launched, a Disney rep told People that one-day park tickets will run $109-$129 pre-tax.
The announcement of date-based tickets comes on the heels of the Disney news that it will be ending its popular Epcot fireworks show, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, in 2019. The company says the phase-out of the show is part of a multi-year transformation for Epcot, which will include new attractions and an evening show on the World Showcase Lagoon.
