Disneyland’s Pirates Of The Caribbean Stein Sails Off Shelves
Ahoy, mateys! Disneyland has been celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its iconic attraction Pirates of the Caribbean. This past weekend, the theme park offered a series of special foods, drinks and merchandise to commemorate the landmark anniversary. However, one item quickly became like the classic treasure at the end of a pirate’s map: a Pirates of the Caribbean stein.

Disney designers created the mug as a tribute to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Sitting on top of the stein is the skeleton captain. This iconic character steers a ghost pirate ship inside the ride. Then, scenes from the attraction are embossed around the stein.
The Pirates of the Caribbean stein came filled with the famous “Jolly Roger Punch.” This popular Disneyland beverage is made of a tropical punch containing mango, pineapple and orange juices.

People who got the word about the Pirates stein lined up early at Disneyland. By 7 a.m., according to a variety of social media posts, the line began to grow quickly. Instagram user @indianajackie wrote she waited “about an hour” even though she was pretty close to the front of the line. Some waited as long as two hours to score a stein.
As a comparison, the line for the actual Pirates of the Caribbean attraction held at 15 minutes that morning. So, park visitors could have enjoyed the ride at least four times in the time they waited to get the popular mug.
By 10:30 a.m., the Pirates of the Caribbean stein sold out completely. This left fans crying out for more. Even the official Disneyland Parks Blog had trouble keeping up with the sales frenzy. The blog posted the stein would be available starting March 18. However, sales officially started on March 16. Officials did not post updates on change of date or the short supplies. Confused commenters left questions as to when they might be on sale again. Plus, others wondered if Walt Disney World might be able to get a supply of the steins.
At this time, Disney has offered no official word on when the popular mug will make a comeback.
Can’t wait until the announcement? Some retailers on eBay are doing their best impressions of a pirate by offering the Pirates of the Caribbean steins for prices ranging from $50 to more than $200!
