How To Make A Pickle Bouquet For Valentine’s Day

Show just how much you really care!

If you’re planning on giving a heart-shaped box of chocolates or a bouquet of roses to your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, we’re sorry to break it to you, but that’s just not going to cut it. Sure, these might be the usual go-to gifts for the holiday, but this is 2019 — and things have changed.

These days, you can buy chocolate beer bottles and even chocolate video game controllers. And when it comes to flowers? Don’t bother because you can now give a bouquet of Reese’s peanut butter cups, doughnuts or the latest in romantic food arrangements — pickles!

Grillo's Pickles

The idea for the pickle bouquet comes from Boston-based pickle company Grillo’s Pickles.

“We’ve always had fun involving pickles around all types of holidays and we felt pickles needed a little more love during Valentine’s Day,” said Travis Grillo, CEO and founder of Grillo’s Pickles. “Not only is a pickle bouquet more beautiful than a dozen red roses, and healthier than a standard box of chocolate, it’s also far more creative.”

Along with a variety of pickles, Grillo’s Pickles also included some extras in the bouquet — like garlic and dill — to represent the company’s 100-year-old family recipe of using just seven ingredients.

Unfortunately, the bouquet is not for sale, but the folks at Grillo’s told us how we can make it ourselves. Just pick up your favorite flavor of pickles and arrange the spears and pickle chips into a bouquet shape using bamboo skewers and toothpicks. Next, garnish the bouquet with your choice of festive and tasty extras, like peppers, garlic and dill. Easy peasy!
