These Footprint Snowmen Are The Perfect Family Holiday Craft

Crafty Morning

If you have little ones, you know that one of the best parts of the holiday season is crafting memories together. Whether you’re making ornaments for your tree or presents for grandma and grandpa, Christmas crafts — and the memories that go with them — will last a lifetime.

If you’re looking for a new craft this year, we have found the perfect one for you and your kids. These salt dough footprint snowmen from Crafty Morning only use three ingredients and look seriously fun to make.

First, you create a quick dough with salt, flour and water, and then press your feet and your children’s feet in the dough to create a print. Pop the “footprints” in the oven and once they’re cooled, take out some acrylic or puff paint and turn them into adorable snowmen! You can even make a felt top hat and scarf and glue it right to the snowman.

If you want to make your footprint snowman into an ornament to hang from the tree, just use a pencil to poke a hole in the dough before baking it.

If you have some leftover dough, you might as well keep going and create other homemade goodies!

Sticking with the snowman theme, this salt dough craft from Learning and Exploring Through Play uses handprints to create a beautiful winter wonderland. The handprints might end up being a bit bigger than an ornament, so they would look adorable displayed on a mantle or among other Christmas decor. The background can be painted blue, while the hands are white and the fingers are each a top-hat-wearing snowman.

If you have a new baby in the family this holiday season, this other footprint keepsake from The Imagination Tree would make the perfect gift for a grandparent. It uses all the same ingredients as the snowman crafts and it will remind everyone, year after year, just how tiny those baby feet used to be!

You could also make this into an ornament the same way — just put a hole in the top before baking.

Will you and your children be making any salt dough crafts this holiday season?
