You can now do Pilates with adorable miniature pigs on this farm

Pennywell Farm

Pilates is pretty appealing even in its simplest form. The strengthening and stretching exercise modality created by Joseph Pilates has helped mold many celebrity physiques and strengthen dancer regimens. It has myriad physical therapy benefits. The practice requires minimal equipment and can be done just about anywhere with the proper instruction.

It’s been around for nearly 100 years, but Pilates may have just hit its peak. Pennywell Farm near Buckfastleigh, England, is debuting a Piggy Pilates class in May. For $45, you get a spot in the 50-minute class — and so much more. Instructor Harry Parkes leads the classes and says they include a full range of Pilates movements but remain accessible to all.

“While there will be plenty of fun to be had, Pilates has many benefits including improving posture, movement quality, mobility, flexibility, mental cognition and core strength,” she shared on the Pennywell Farm website.

Here’s a YouTube video posted by @pennywellfarms, promoting the sessions. They’re currently scheduled to run once a month through September:

Piglet Perks

Other perks are packed into this extra-special Pilates class. All participants can cuddle with the pigs after the class. Yes, you do need to endure the 100s, planks and a teaser or two first — but being able to hang out with an adorable pig is a pretty good motivator for sticking it out through every rep! This reward also serves as a reminder of why you’re working out so hard in the first place.

Following the class, there is also complimentary breakfast and coffee. You know you’ve earned every bite! And, you’ll need fuel for the rest of your day exploring the farm. The price of the class also includes access to the grounds, so you can linger as long as you like with all the adorable animals.

Stretches With Animals

This is far from the only way to sweat and stretch with adorable animals nearby. You can practice your yoga poses with goats, alpacas and horses wandering close, too.

There’s a US-based company called Goat Yoga, for example, which has nine locations across the country.

Or join a Bunny Yoga event monthly at Metazoa Brewing Co. in Indianapolis, Indiana. This Twitter photo from @IndyStar was taken at one of these sessions last year.

And yes, alpaca yoga is a thing too, thanks to Rosebud Ranch in Devon, England.

Heck, you can even stretch with lemurs if you take a trip to England’s Lake District and visit the Armathwaite Hotel.
