The internet is in love with this dog who was pumped to shop at Target
Zira might only be a 4-month-old puppy, but, like many of us, she loves shopping at Target.
In fact, when Zira’s owner Jesse posted photos of the corgi-miniature Australian shepherd mix looking psyched to be in the grocery aisle at Target, the images quickly went viral. Media outlets like Mashable and Teen Vogue declared the pup the “most relatable dog of 2018.”

Although with all of the delicious snacks at Target, what dog wouldn’t have that expression on their face?
Since Jesse (who now goes by the name Zira’s Mom on Twitter) posted them on Jan. 3rd, the photos have racked up more than 500,000 likes and 146,000 retweets! Zira, who bears a resemblance to Target’s mascot dog, Bulleye, has also inspired other pet owners to post similar pics of their dogs while out shopping.

The only problem with Zira’s excitement? Target is not a pet-friendly store, and the company’s policy only allows service animals. After Twitter users alerted Jesse to her faux pas, the Monterey, California resident apologized on her blog, writing:
“Although we had seen other dogs at our local Target and the employees and managers asked to pet Zira, we realized it was still a mistake to bring her in because, regardless of the individual circumstances, Target is a service dog-only store. While Zira is a calm, well-behaved pup who would never harm a soul, not all dogs are. Some dogs may distract–or even attack–service dogs who have important jobs to do. A distracted or attacked service dog may cause the handler to get injured or even die. This is why it’s so important to adhere to laws and store policies. Thankfully, we’ve also learned that there are plenty of establishments that allow dogs!”
Who would’ve known Petsmart is just as much fun as Target?!? And I’m super welcomed here! Petsmart is a pet friendly environment, and unlike Target, I’m not putting any service animals at risk! Now time to go buy some treats! pic.twitter.com/LJuPVnwwnY

Since then, Jesse and Zira have recreated the viral photos at pet-friendly stores like Home Depot, Marshalls and PetSmart, with Zira looking just as adorable—and pumped—as ever.
Perhaps Zira will hit up Nordstrom and these other surprisingly pet-friendly stores next!
Keep up with the pup’s adventures on her Instagram page.
