Dolly Parton shared that she’s a fan of Taco Bell’s cult-fave Mexican Pizza

When Taco Bell revamped its menu to contend with the realities of the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a sense of loss.

While beloved classics like the 7-Layer Burrito and Nachos Supreme disappeared, just one item is still mourned today: the Mexican Pizza, two tostadas filled with refried beans and ground beef, then topped with cheese, tomatoes and taco sauce. (My mouth just started watering while I wrote that.)

Mexican Pizza fans are legion! And we have one more to count among us: None other than American treasure Dolly Parton.

In a recent interview with Insider, Parton shared that she’s a fan of fast food generally, especially when she and her husband, Carl Dean, are out tooling around in their camper.

“Oh, I love to get a good burger out on the highway and French fries like everybody else,” she told Insider. “We love to just get out in that little camper of ours and drive through restaurants.”

She went on to mention that she enjoys a soft-shell taco from the Bell, too, with a side of rice and beans. But when she noted that the Mexican Pizza is no longer, she said what we’re all thinking.

“I think they should [bring it back]!”

Glad to know Dolly’s on the right side of history, as usual.

Parton is on a roll this year, with a new album, “Run, Rose, Run” due March 4. The record is a companion piece to her new book, a collaboration with bestselling mystery author James Patterson.

The novel, also titled “Run, Rose, Run,” tells the story of a young woman who moves to Nashville to hit it big in the country music biz, but her murky past could come back to haunt her. It comes out March 7.

What else is she up to? Well, besides helping save the world with vaccines, she recently announced her own cake mix line with Duncan Hines and a new run of her Strawberry Pretzel Pie ice cream from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.  (The proceeds from which benefit her Imagination Library charity.)

And now rumors are swirling that the Mexican Pizza may return this spring! Is there anything Dolly can’t do?

Answer: No.
