Dolly Parton is one of the warmest, sweetest stars to ever take the stage. However, despite her nurturing and loving nature, the country singer never had children of her own. On a recent appearance on the “Today” show, Matt Lauer spoke to Parton about her decision not to have children. Parton’s response was just perfect … and so Dolly:
“God has a plan for everything,” she said. “I think it probably was his plan for me not to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine. And they are now.”
How lovely. And Parton is right. She has certainly done so much to make the world a brighter place for children. She created the Imagination Library, which helps to provide books to needy children. Parton wanted every child to have the precious opportunity to read books and establish early literacy, regardless of their family’s income and ability to provide books. Since she created the program, Parton has given away over 100 million books, meaning that countless children across the country have received the priceless gift of reading, all thanks to her generosity and vision.
Now, Parton has also released her first children’s album, I Believe In You. The album features Dolly classics like “Coat of Many Colors” as well as the title song, “I Believe In You,” which is all about how hard work and determination can make your dreams come true.
You can listen to the title track here:
Kids and adults alike are loving this new album, and best of all, the proceeds go directly to the Imagination Library.
