Donut shops everywhere are rolling out Tide pod donuts
By now you have no doubt heard about the scary viral trend in which teenagers eat Tide Detergent Pods and film themselves. The trend is so concerning that NFL star Rob Gronkowski even teamed up with Tide to create a video cautioning teens against this practice. Because, obviously, eating a laundry detergent pod can be very damaging to your body. It can burn your internal organs, harm your vision, cause skin rashes and, in extreme cases, it can even be fatal.
Serious stuff, right?
Now, a donut shop in North Carolina has created a donut that perfectly resembles a Tide laundry detergent pod…but this one is actually edible, and delicious! Wake N Bake Donuts in Carolina Beach debuted their latest donut style on social media, and it’s uncanny how much the donut actually looks like a Tide Pod:

I’m drooling, but I’m also scared to eat it. Is that normal?
Other donut shops have since followed suit, including a branch of Hurts Donut in Norman, Oklahoma, and another in Wichita, Kansas.
“We just kind of put out the post as just a funny alternative to a more serious topic. We see so much heavy stuff everyday that we’re just putting a little lighter approach on a serious subject,” Trista Patterson, owner of Hurts Donut, tells KSN News.
A Twitter user also posted a picture of Tide-colored donuts at her local Hy-Vee grocery store. They’re spreading!

However, not everyone thinks that these Tide-inspired pastries are a smart idea:
This is the most irresponsible thing Ive ever seen in my life
Hey kid eat this, good right? Now this thing that looks exactly like that delicious thing you just ate? And everyone's talking about eating? Don't eat it it's poison.— Ok (@Camuraii) January 22, 2018
Along with concerns that these donuts might make kids MORE interested in eating Tide detergent pods, it appears that some people have gotten confused and put DONUTS in the washer instead of Tide Pods.

Hmm. That’s not only bad for your washer and your clothes, it’s also just a waste of delicious donuts!
What do you think? Tide Pod donuts: Yay or nay?
