Does a day go by when you don’t learn about a cool new gadget? From robotic bartenders, to TVs as thin as a sheet of wallpaper to coffee mugs that keep your drink at the ideal temperature, tech companies are constantly unveiling the next big thing. Well, here’s a cool new one from the art and design world. You’ve probably already heard about 3D printing, but now there’s a way to make 3D designs of your own at home, thanks to a new handheld 3D-printing pen. Get ready for your mind to be blown—this device is even cooler than it sounds.
If you like to doodle, you’ll want to get your hands on the 3Doodler Create, which allows you to do just that: doodle in 3D. Created by WobbleWorks, Inc., an emerging consumer electronics and robotics company, and funded by Kickstarter, the 3Doodler is the world’s first 3D printing pen. Instead of creating images on paper, you weave your pen in the air to create solid structures that appear instantly, and you can make anything from people, to play houses or even something more practical like a cell phone case. When you’re not limited to paper, your options are endless.
The 3Doodler Create is available for $99, and they also offer a kids version for $49. It can be used for crafting with kids, creating fine art, creating scale models, decorating items and more. The pen functions similarly to a glue gun, but it uses plastic resin instead of glue. The hot tip melts the plastic as it comes out of the pen, and once it reaches the air, it hardens, staying in place. This awesome new invention comes with 50 strands of plastic in 10 different colors, with over 50 additional colors to choose from.
