Thousands of crib and toddler mattresses recalled because of fire hazard

Adobe

Here is an important note for parents: Dream On Me, the popular manufacturer of baby and toddler items, is recalling more than 23,000 mattresses for repair.

The company says that the affected baby and toddler mattresses do not meet federal flammability standards. This means that they could be a fire hazard.

The crib mattresses were sold at Amazon.com, Wayfair.com, Kohls.com, Walmart.com and ToysRUs.com. They retailed for $40 to $90.

The affected items were sold between January 2016 and December 2016.

Customers who bought these now-recalled mattresses will be given a mattress cover which does meet federal flammability standards for free.

No injuries have been reported from the use of these recalled mattresses, but it’s important that parents still take steps to remove or update these potentially harmful items from their home and receive a safe replacement from the Dream On Me company.

Correction 12/28/17: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Dream On Me would provide compliant replacements to those who had purchased mattresses that are part of this recall. Dream On Me will provide a compliant mattress cover—not a new mattress—that will bring the mattress into compliance with federal safety standards. We regret the error.
