Dunkin’ is making a Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich

Good news, New Yorkers (and anyone traveling to the Big Apple this summer): Dunkin’ is adding an exciting new vegetarian breakfast option to their menu.

The coffee chain just announced that they have paired with Beyond Meat to bring their customers a breakfast sandwich made with their signature plant-based meat alternative.

Beyond Meat is beloved by vegetarians, vegans and everyone who is looking to get more veggies in their diet. Although they are most famous for their Beyond Burger, the company is now unveiling their latest product, Beyond Sausage. Dunkin’ is the first restaurant chain in the U.S. to serve the plant-based sausage, according to Business Insider.

“The Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich offers the delicious taste and texture millions of Dunkin’ breakfast sandwich customers enjoy and expect with a juicy, savory breakfast sausage patty — but made with 100% plant-based ingredients and a mix of spices crafted specifically for Dunkin’,” the company said in a press release.

The press release continued, “The Beyond Breakfast Sausage patty is served on an English muffin with egg and American cheese. In addition to offering a patty with 10 grams of plant-based protein, the new sandwich helps Dunkin’ deliver the better-for-the-planet environmental benefits of plant-based protein.”

Trying to avoid eggs and dairy as well? No worries. You can make the new Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich work for a vegan diet as well. As the social media handler for Dunkin’ explained in a recent tweet, you can simply order the sandwich without egg or cheese:

The new Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich made its debut at Dunkin’ restaurants in Manhattan on July 24. Customers received free breakfast sandwiches in order to celebrate the new menu item.

Dunkin’ said it plans to launch the Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich nationwide in the future, although no specific release date has been announced.

If you’re not in the New York City area, you don’t have to miss out on new treats at Dunkin’. The company’s newest lineup of both food and beverages features creative takes on Hershey’s products.
