There’s no denying it, Peeps are having the best year of their marshmallow-y lives. Although polls still show people have mixed feelings about neon candies, they have seemed to explode in popularity this year with new flavors, a Peep version of Christmas’ Elf on the Shelf (called Peep on a Perch, of course), and now we’re apparently supposed to make them houses.
My apologies if you’re already over Peep season, but with Easter still weeks away, there are a lot more Peeps yet to come. This includes at Dunkin’ (formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts), where you can not only eat a Peeps donut, but also drink a Peeps marshmallow-flavored coffee and espresso drinks.
The Peeps donut features white icing, green and egg-shaped sprinkles, and, of course, a mini yellow Peep on top. In beverages, the Peeps marshmallow flavor can be added to hot and iced coffee, espresso drinks, frozen coffee, and frozen hot chocolate.
The new items are available now at participating Dunkin’ locations nationwide, but only for a limited time and while supplies last. Odds are they won’t be around long once Easter is over, so you’ve got a few weeks to try them.
If you don’t have a Dunkin’ near you, you can actually buy Peeps coffee creamer at stores nationwide and just add it to your coffee (or frozen hot chocolate). The Peeps creamer comes from International Delight and is yellow just like a classic Peep!
If you’re actually loving the Peep explosion this year, I have a feeling you’ll also love this Peeps s’mores skillet recipe. Aside from a few other ingredients, including chocolate chips and salted caramel chips, you’ll also need Peeps in three to five different colors. And yes, you’ll use them all!
Making the dessert is pretty easy, as you’ll just heat everything up except the Peeps, then add them to a skillet in whatever pattern you want, bake them, and then serve your gooey concoction as a dip with Graham crackers. Yum!
Will you be trying the new Dunkin’ Peeps donut and/or coffee?
