Dunkin’ is making a spicy jelly donut topped with Frank’s RedHot

Those who put hot sauce on everything — you know the type — are going to love this new creation that pairs a classic hot sauce with a favorite fried sweet. The latest treat to feature this yummy pairing of sweet and spicy? The new Frank’s RedHot Jelly Donut at Dunkin’ Donuts.

The concept was first introduced to us on Super Bowl Sunday, which is the perfect day to launch a slightly outrageous flavor pairing. Frank’s RedHot took to Twitter to reveal that they topped a Dunkin’ jelly donut with their signature hot sauce — and declared they already wanted more:

Rick Golden, the manager of donut excellence (a real title!) at Dunkin’, says his team tested more than a dozen different combinations before settling on the Frank’s RedHot Jelly Donut. The winning creation is a yeast donut shell filled with apple- and raspberry-flavored jelly and then topped with white icing and drizzled with Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce.

Dunkin’ posted a photo of this hot new creation:

As their tweet mentions, the Frank’s RedHot Jelly Donut was sadly only available at two Dunkin’ locations, both in the Miami area, and only on Feb. 3 while supplies lasted. However, if you’re lucky enough to live near one of them (817 SE 17th St., Ste B, Fort Lauderdale and 2800 S. Le Jeune Road, Miami International Airport), perhaps you were able to not only try the donut but snag a free one on Feb. 3.

To build off this new treat, both companies are encouraging people to let them know what their ideal Frank’s-and-Dunkin’ creations would be via social media. If they like your hot sauce-donut innovations, you may be reposted.

Although the availability of the Frank’s RedHot Jelly Donut was super limited, hopefully, if they get enough interest, they’ll pop up at more locations. We’ve seen it happen before: Taco Bell tested new flavors of their nacho fries in small markets, then released one of those flavors to the whole country for a limited time for all to enjoy.

This donut is not the only sweet-and-spicy treat to make its debut recently. Right now in Disney World, you can snag a Red Hot Beignet. This new menu item at Scat Cat’s Club in Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is a fresh beignet topped with crushed Red Hots and a sauce made from the cinnamon candies. You also get a tube of Fireball whisky on the side that’s designed to be injected into the pastry.
