‘Tis the season for proms — and “promposals” to celebrities.
Last year, we saw a “La La Land” inspired music video from a Phoenix, Arizona, student asking actress Emma Stone to the prom and this year, so far, we’ve already seen San Francisco 49ers player Don Jones take a fan with Down Syndrome to her prom.
Now, actor Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, is on the receiving end of prom invites, with one fan dressing up like him and asking him to “rock” it at prom with her. She didn’t dress up like The Rock we all know now, however; she used her promposal to channel a photo of him from the 1990s that became a joke on the internet. So much so that Johnson himself even recreated it for Saturday Night Live.

Now, check out the hilarious Tweet from superfan Katie Kelzenberg. She’s wearing the black turtleneck, the chain, the jeans and the fanny pack.

So funny!
The tweet went viral and reached the superstar himself. Although he can’t attend due to scheduling conflicts, he did have a sweet message for Kelzenberg — and a giant surprise.
“About a week ago, I come across a video on my Twitter feed, from a student at Stillwater Area High School (oldest high school in Minnesota) asking me if I would be her date to her prom. Unfortunately, I’ll be shooting during that time in Hawaii, BUT I was so impressed by this young lady’s charm and confidence to even ask me (ladies always get shy in front of me) that I had to do something special,” Johnson wrote on Instagram.
That something special? Renting out an entire movie theater in Kelzenberg’s town so she and 232 of her closest friends could watch a special screening of Johnson’s film “Rampage.” Of course, it also includes all the free popcorn, candy and soda “high school kids can consume.”

“You’re (sic) money’s no good Katie… everything is on Uncle DJ,” Johnson continued on Ingstram. “I also taped a special morning message surprising Katie and her high school that will play across the school’s intercom system… literally…RIGHT NOW, Katie should be turning red hearing me surprise her in front of her entire school.”
Johnson says while he wishes he was there in person to see Kelzenberg’s reaction, he thanked her for being an awesome fan and said he is “lucky” to have fans like her.

Great job with your promposal, Katie! Enjoy the movie and most importantly, your prom!
