Dwayne Johnson’s Sweet Surprise For The Girl Who Asked Him To Be Her Prom Date

This is adorable!

‘Tis the season for proms — and “promposals” to celebrities.

Last year, we saw a “La La Land” inspired music video from a Phoenix, Arizona, student asking actress Emma Stone to the prom and this year, so far, we’ve already seen San Francisco 49ers player Don Jones take a fan with Down Syndrome to her prom.

Now, actor Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, is on the receiving end of prom invites, with one fan dressing up like him and asking him to “rock” it at prom with her. She didn’t dress up like The Rock we all know now, however; she used her promposal to channel a photo of him from the 1990s that became a joke on the internet. So much so that Johnson himself even recreated it for Saturday Night Live.

When I took this iconic absurdity of a picture in 1996 I was one year removed from sleeping on a used mattress I took from a garbage dumpster in the back of an hourly sex motel. Couldn't afford to buy a bed so we do what we gotta do to get by. You can imagine all the fun colorful bodily fluids I tried my best to clean off. 21 years later I'm taking the same photo backstage hosting #SaturdayNightLive for the fifth time. If you're going thru your own tough times "used mattress" stage, do your best to have faith things'll get better and always be willing to outwork your competition because you never know where life is gonna take you. And ALWAYS remember to place a soft tissue under your left elbow as to protect the fabric of the cheap ass swag turtleneck that had you out here looking like a bad ass buff lesbian. Oh and tuck the thumb in the fanny pack. Always tuck the thumb. 🤙🏾

Now, check out the hilarious Tweet from superfan Katie Kelzenberg. She’s wearing the black turtleneck, the chain, the jeans and the fanny pack.

So funny!

The tweet went viral and reached the superstar himself. Although he can’t attend due to scheduling conflicts, he did have a sweet message for Kelzenberg — and a giant surprise.

“About a week ago, I come across a video on my Twitter feed, from a student at Stillwater Area High School (oldest high school in Minnesota) asking me if I would be her date to her prom. Unfortunately, I’ll be shooting during that time in Hawaii, BUT I was so impressed by this young lady’s charm and confidence to even ask me (ladies always get shy in front of me) that I had to do something special,” Johnson wrote on Instagram.

That something special? Renting out an entire movie theater in Kelzenberg’s town so she and 232 of her closest friends could watch a special screening of Johnson’s film “Rampage.” Of course, it also includes all the free popcorn, candy and soda “high school kids can consume.”

“You’re (sic) money’s no good Katie… everything is on Uncle DJ,” Johnson continued on Ingstram. “I also taped a special morning message surprising Katie and her high school that will play across the school’s intercom system… literally…RIGHT NOW, Katie should be turning red hearing me surprise her in front of her entire school.”

Johnson says while he wishes he was there in person to see Kelzenberg’s reaction, he thanked her for being an awesome fan and said he is “lucky” to have fans like her.

SURPRISE KATIE KELZENBERG! About a week ago, I come across a video on my Twitter feed, from a student at Stillwater Area High School (oldest high school in Minnesota) asking me if I would be her date to her prom. Unfortunately, I’ll be shooting during that time in Hawaii, BUT I was so impressed by this young lady’s charm and confidence to even ask me (ladies always get shy in front of me) that I had to do something special. I decided to rent out an entire theater (capacity 232 seats) in her town so Katie and her closest 232 friends and family can enjoy a special screening of RAMPAGE. And all the free popcorn, candy and soda high school kids can consume! You’re money’s no good Katie… everything is on Uncle DJ. 🤙🏾🍿 🍭🥤!! And I also taped a special morning message surprising Katie and her high school that will play across the school’s intercom system… literally…RIGHT NOW, Katie should be turning red hearing me surprise her in front of her entire school. I wish I was there in person Katie, to see your reaction to all this, but I’ll hear about for sure and most importantly – you and all your friends have fun at the theater and ENJOY RAMPAGE! Thanks for being an AWESOME FAN and I’m a lucky dude to have fans like you. Uncle DJ 🤟🏾❤️ Ps – the gorilla in Rampage is way smarter (and better looking) than I am, but don’t tell him that because he has a HUGE ego 🦍
