Earn up to $21 per hour teaching English from home

Would you like to make money from the comfort of your own home? Do you have what it takes to help children obtain a better grasp of the English language? Would you be interested in using those skills to land the type of job that would allow you to bring in the bucks without ever leaving the house?

It turns out it’s possible, thanks to technology that provides interactive teaching platforms that allow students and teachers to connect with one another online.

In fact, one company — SayABC — is hiring remote employees right now. According to their website, you can make up to $21 an hour as an English instructor on their platform, working only 40 minutes each session. You can even set your own schedule, so that your classes run during the hours that work best for you.

Located in Beijing, East District, China, SayABC has been in business for two years, and in that time, they have helped over 5,000 students and worked with over 1,000 certified teachers. And right now, they’re looking to add to their team of educators. In order to apply for a long-term position, you need a bachelor’s degree. But if you only want a short contract (3 months), you don’t need a college degree at all.

You’ll also need some equipment in order to get started. First and foremost, you’ll need a high-speed internet connection, as you’ll be connecting with students in real time from across the world. Second, you’ll need a desktop or a laptop with a webcam (tablets, phones and other devices aren’t ideal), and you’ll need a headset with a microphone.

And that’s it! After you apply online, you’ll undergo a 40-minute interview, which also includes a 15-minute demo, in which you’ll be trained in the materials, and in how the classes work. If you’re chosen to be a teacher, you’ll be able to create your own schedule and choose which times you want to teach (although some preferred times may be booked, so it’s important to plan in advance).

Reviews from those who have worked for the site have been mixed. Some praise the support teams at the company, and enjoy the flexibility. Others have been underwhelmed by the experience, citing the baseline pay, the class times available and more.

If you’d still like to give this gig a go, you can apply for these work-from-home positions by going to the SayABC web site.
