This is one of the absolute funniest scenes in ‘The Office,’ according to Ed Helms

“The Office” is one of those shows that will never get old. Even after re-watching episodes countless times, the quotable moments and hilarious scenes just get better — and I know I’m not alone in saying this.

Frequently touted as one of the greatest comedy series of all time, the chemistry between Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), Michael Scott (Steve Carell) and the rest of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company afforded us some absolutely ridiculous moments that had fans dying of laughter — and the actors, too.

Recently Ed Helms, who played preppy, Cornell alum Andy Bernard, went on an episode of “The Dan Patrick Show” to promote his new movie, “Tag,” and he chatted about some of the funniest moments with “The Office” cast. When asked how hard was it to keep a straight face during scenes, Helms explained that he was a “disaster” and would have to break all the time. And who can blame him?

During the interview, Helms claimed that he had to come up with ways to stay calm long enough to finish scenes. “[Steve Carell] just slays me,” Helms said. “There’s something in his eyes. There’s a lot of times when I was doing a scene with Steven and I had to look at his chin, otherwise, I would just lose it.”

Any true fan of “The Office” remembers the sixth season’s Christmas episode, “Secret Santa.” In this episode, Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) is invited to sit on Santa’s (Carell’s character) lap, where he slowly and indecisively contemplates what he wants for Christmas.

The moment Malone sits down, you can hear how disgruntled and uncomfortable Scott is, and it just gets funnier from there. Check it out below.

Helms recalls this episode as being one of the toughest to get through without bursting out laughing. “Kevin is sitting in his lap, and he’s so awful about it, because it’s uncomfortable for him, and he’s just being really rude and weird and mean about it,” he tells Patrick. “I had to duck behind a plant — you can see in the actual episode.”

Helms went on to admit that that was “like, take 30, because I had been laughing in every single take. He’s a genius.”
