Ed Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, welcomed their first child

Less than a month after revealing that he and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, were expecting their first baby, Ed Sheeran ended his social media break to make a happy announcement: The baby girl has arrived!

In an adorable Instagram post on his personal account on Sept. 1, Sheeran shared a photo of a tiny pair of socks resting on top of a beautiful baby blanket. In his caption, he made the big announcement to the world and revealed the baby’s name.

“Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you,” Sheeran wrote. “Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter — Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.”

“We are completely in love with her,” Sheeran’s caption continued. “Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back.”

Of course, Sheeran’s fans took to social media to remark on the happy news. Twitter user @RogueForLove couldn’t seem to get over the sweet fact that Sheeran is now a proud papa.

The couple got engaged in 2018 and married in late 2019. Sheeran and Seaborn have known each other since they were in high school in Suffolk, England. However, the romance didn’t take off until 2015 when the pair connected while Sheeran was touring in New York and they went on a date to Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July party in Rhode Island.

“I’ve known Cherry since I was 11,” Sheeran told People. “She worked on Wall Street in New York, and I had like six shows [around New York in 2015]… I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a Fourth of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history.”

And now baby makes three! Congratulations to mom, dad and their little girl!
