Pop star Ellie Goulding is engaged! She and her boyfriend Caspar Jopling, who have been dating for about 18 months, went old school with their wedding announcement by running it in the newspaper.
The announcement in the London-based paper The Times read:
“Mr. C.W.F. Jopling and Miss E.J. Goulding:
The engagement is announced between Caspar, son of The Hon. Nicholas Jopling of Yorkshire and Mrs. Jayne Warde-Aldam of Yorkshire, and Elena, daughter of Mr. Arthur Goulding of Hertfordshire and Mrs. Tracey Sumner of West Midlands.”
Jopling, 26, is an art dealer based at Sotheby’s in New York who was formerly a rower on Great Britain’s crew team and competed in the 2010 at the Youth Olympics. He confirmed the happy couple’s news in a more intimate way on Instagram.
“I get to spend the rest of my life with this truly extraordinary and beautiful, beautiful person,” he captioned a photo of Goulding with a ring on that finger. “I look forward to a lifetime of exploring the world together, crying with laughter at stupid jokes, chatting into the early hours of the morning about art, music, the world, and the future.”
There’s been no social media posts about the details of the proposal from Goulding, but she did take a minute to thank her fans on Twitter:
“Thank you so much for all your lovely messages,” she tweeted.
In an interview with The Evening Standard in early July, she did admit that she and Jopling were in love.
“We’re really, really happy together,” the singer said. “I’m loving my life at the moment.”
Goulding, 31, has previously dated Dougie Poynter from the British pop band McFly and the musician Skrillex.
Congratulations to the newly engaged couple!
