Elton John Sang A Duet Of ‘Tiny Dancer’ With Taron Egerton, Who Will Play The Superstar In The Upcoming Biopic ‘Rocketman’
This will give you chills.
Taron Egerton came on stage for the auction portion of the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Award Viewing Party on Feb. 24. With John at the piano, Egerton sang his heart out to the 1972 classic tune. John let Egerton do his thing, waiting until over two minutes into the song to start harmonizing.
Afterward, the rapt party crowd cheered loudly for both. Check out the beautiful duet in this video posted to Elton John’s YouTube page:
He also excels at fundraising. This year’s bash raised $6.5 million to fight AIDS.
Before portraying John on screen, Egerton has probably been best known for the “Kingsman” movies, the title role in “Eddie the Eagle,” and “Sing,” in which he performed John’s “I’m Still Standing.”
The actor said that getting to know the icon in the process of playing him in “Rocketman” made the role all that much more important to him.
“You kind of fall in love with him quite quickly, and not just because he is one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time but because he’s truly an extraordinary person,” Egerton told IMDb Live in an interview at Elton’s Oscar bash.
Egerton fully immersed himself in the role of Elton John, changing his hairstyle to reflect the star’s early fashion. He also wore big glasses and earrings, donned prosthetic teeth and did all of his own singing in the film. Get a look at him in character in the movie’s official trailer:
Egerton also posted a selfie of himself as John at the end of October 2018, captioning the picture, “Wrapped. One of the greatest joys of my life so far.”
The movie musical “Rocketman” will be released May 31. Are you excited to see the film?
