Emma Stone is engaged—and she has a gorgeous pearl engagement ring

Congratulations are in order for actor Emma Stone and “Saturday Night Live” segment director Dave McCary. According to social media, they are officially engaged!

The pair began dating in 2017 and had managed to largely keep their relationship out of the public eye. When it came to this big news, however, it appears that McCary could not keep his excitement to himself.

On Dec. 4, he took to Instagram to share a photo of the two smiling broadly, with Stone showing off a beautiful engagement ring. He captioned it very simply with a heart emoji:

Although the ring is a little blurry, so it’s hard to tell exactly what it’s made of, PopSugar surmises that the large and round-cut stone may be a pearl. It’s placed in what looks to be either a white gold or platinum setting and the center stone is apparently surrounded by smaller diamonds. The band also appears to be encrusted with small pave diamonds on either side as well.

If Stone’s ring does feature a pearl for the center stone, as opposed to a traditional diamond, she won’t be the first celebrity to opt for an unconventional engagement ring. Fellow actor Eva Longoria wears a stunning ruby and diamond engagement ring. Meanwhile, Duchess Kate Middleton sports a beautiful, 12-carat blue sapphire and diamond ring that was originally worn by her husband Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana, which you can see below.

While the jury may be out on exactly which stones comprise the new bride-to-be’s ring, one thing is clearly evident from McCary’s Instagram photo: these two are head over heels in love!

The pair met in 2016 when Stone hosted “Saturday Night Live,” and McCary directed her in a sketch for the late-night show entitled “Wells for Boys.”

The comments section of McCary’s Instagram post has been flooded with messages from well-wishers, including from “SNL” star Aidy Bryant, who wrote, “Love to the bbs!!!!” accompanied by heart emojis.
