Just when you thought you couldn’t love the redheaded “La La Land” actress Emma Stone anymore than you already do—she goes and gets even more real. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stone opened up about the fact that she’s been battling anxiety and shyness since she was a little girl.

This isn’t the first time she, not to mention other celebrities, have spoken out about this. She’s previously said how terrible the anxiety was for her as a child. She says in The Hollywood Reporter interview that her parents put her in therapy when she was 7. The therapy helped, but it was her role in theater that really seemed to help her shine.

Which is exactly why, when she pitched the crazy idea of leaving high school as a freshman to move to L.A. and pursue acting, her parents totally went for it.

“I think my parents saw that acting was the thing that made me fulfilled and happy,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Knowing that Stone moved to L.A. to tough it out as an actress (in her real life), makes her on-screen persona in “La La Land” that much more relatable. That, along with the fact that she’s opened up about being incredibly nervous about all of the hype the movie is getting, the Oscar nominations and all of that.

After all, she had been doing interviews for the film for about six months at the time that she sat down with The Hollywood Reporter.

“Before any interview, I have to sit with myself for five minutes and breathe and get centered because I get so nervous,” she told the publication. “Interviews are kind of like therapy, except all your answers are being written down and printed. I always want to be on the other side of it. I don’t want to be deconstructed for millions. I’d rather do the deconstructing.”

While she may be nervous of the Oscar outcome, she should know that she’s got a whole lot of fans supporting her. Because anxiety is no joke, and we get it. And we also really appreciate her talking about it, further proving that celebrities are, in fact, real people, too!
