This delicious-looking map shows the favorite Christmas cookie in each state

Christmas cookies are pretty much one of the best parts of the holiday season. Whether you do a holiday cookie swap or you share your Grandma’s favorite recipes with the next generation, cookie baking is such a sweet and sentimental way to celebrate the season.

But did you know that holiday cookie tradition can be highly influenced by where you grew up? Our favorite Christmas cookies aren’t just based on our palate, or own family history, but also the region we call home.

And now a new survey from General Mills shows exactly which holiday cookie is most popular in each of the 50 states. The survey results are based on search results from Betty Crocker, Pillsbury and Tablespoon. Does your state’s favorite measure up to your personal cookie preference?

Peanut Butter Blossoms are a popular favorite, with six states (Pennsylvania, California, Kentucky, Nevada, South Carolina and Wyoming) making this their most clicked-upon holiday cookie recipe. (Find the Betty Crocker classic recipe here).

Meanwhile, Georgians chose Cream Cheese Pecan Cookies as their top holiday cookie recipe, which is fitting for the pecan-producing state but certainly a regional-specific favorite, as many of outside the South have likely never enjoyed this holiday treat. Try this Southern favorite yourself with this recipe from Tablespoon.

Cooks in Wisconsin, which is known for its German population, also stays true to their roots, choosing German Almond Cookies for their holiday cookie favorite. Find a recipe for German Almond Cookies on Pillsbury.

And, of course, it is only fitting that Ohio’s favorite holiday cookie are Buckeye Delights! The Buckeye State is not shy about their love for this nut (indeed, the Buckeye is the official state tree of Ohio), and these Buckeye Delights are the perfect mix of chocolate and peanut butter. And here is something funny: Although Gingerbread Cookies seems like a staple of the season, only one U.S. state claimed it as their top pick — Hawaii. As they say on the island, Mele Kalikimaka!
