Baseball playoffs can be exciting! That goes for the players, fans and, apparently, the announcers, too. Longtime Boston Red Sox announcer Joe Castiglione was calling a play during the team’s game against the Houston Astros in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Oct. 17 when he got so riled up that he actually fell out of his chair.
Unfortunately, there’s no video of the hilarious incident, but you can hear the moment it happens in this clip of Castiglione narrating Andrew Benintendi’s game-clinching catch, posted to Twitter by @MLB:

You can hear a scuffle as Castiglione quips, “I just went head over heels in my chair!”
“Joe just fell down,” his partner, Tim Neverett, confirmed.
Castiglione quickly recovered, though, remarking, “Oh, wow! What a catch!”
ESPN Radio and WEEI sportscaster Chris Villani took to Twitter to share news of the funny incident as well.

“Joe Castiglione fell over in his chair while calling the final play, I swear I’m not making this up,” he wrote.
“I started to backpedal in my chair to stand up, and the wheels moved — and I didn’t,” Castiglione explained to The Boston Globe. “Tim was there with the save. He actually caught me. I got right up.”
He says it’s the first time such a thing has happened to him while on the job, but he doesn’t mind all the attention it’s attracted.
“I’m not used to being part of a story, but I knew it was out there on MLB Network and ESPN pretty fast,’” he told the newspaper. “It was unusual to say the least, but I’m having fun with it. I guess it did fit in with the tension and the moments of that game.”
Here’s hoping he makes it through the rest of the playoffs without any more falls!
